The finalists of this year’s greeting card retailing awards – affectionately known as the Retas – have been revealed, and Cardland has been nominated as one of the top card retailers in the, Best Specialist Multiple Retailer of greeting cards category.
All the finalists in all the retail categories were arrived at as a result of huge nationwide nomination process. Earlier this year, UK greeting card publishers, card reps and agents nominate the retailers that they felt to be the worthy winners in each of the categories.
The Retas awards, launched in 2005 by Progressive Greetings Worldwide Magazine, recognises excellence across the whole retail spectrum, from independents on the high street, to the mini chains, national multiples, garden centres, department stores and supermarkets.
Ayrshire based Cardland beat off the competition to become a finalist in the Best Specialist Multiple Retailer of greeting cards category award.
The winner will be revealed at a glittering awards event on a Ballroom Blitz theme at London’s Dorchester Hotel on Wednesday July 13, attended by almost 400 people.
Over the past few years Cardland has been the fastest growing specialist greeting card retailer in Northern Ireland & Scotland, opening 26 stores in high profile, high footfall shopping destinations, employing over 200 staff and serving close to 2 million customers per year making Cardland one of the biggest card retailers in the marketplace today.
Managing Director Jim McAllister tells us, that the strategy at Cardland has been to provide first class customer service and a “one stop” shopping destination for the consumer who seeks value, or is looking for that “something” a bit special. In achieving this objective, we only stock the best selling ranges of greeting cards from the indus- try’s major publishing companies.
2011 & beyond will see Cardland continue to expand, Jim tells us the next big mile- stone will be to reach 50 stores, which will create an additional 150 jobs and will also see the expansion focus more in Key towns and cities in Scotland, England & the Republic of Ireland.
